New Year, New Media Service
Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Jordan Well, Coventry CV1 5QP

The New Year has brought a lot of changes to the City Council's Arts and Heritage media service. Formerly known as the Depot Studios, the media service has a new name; Herbert Media and a new location, having moved from its Bond Street building to temporary offices at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.

The former lecture theatre at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum is currently being developed to house Herbert Media services as part of the refurbishment of the whole building. The new facilities will include a sound recording studio, two video edit suites and video equipment for hire, a creative IT suite and training spaces.

In addition to the media facilities, there will be an Arts Information Centre on a newly created top floor of the building, where the there will be specialist arts resources, and information available for artists, groups and organisations.

Together Herbert Media and the Arts Information Centre will create a significant range of opportunities for everyone from newcomers to experienced artists. The building is planned to be launched formally during September 2004 access to these facilities will be available before then.

Whilst the building is being completed, the Herbert Media team is still able to offer some services to the public including; web design and graphic design, video production and equipment hire, and advice and support for audio projects. Herbert Media is part of the Creative Coventry Project, offering business advice and practical support for start-ups and existing creative businesses as well as community organisations in the city.
